Wet and Wild Whitsundays – School Tour

This school tour is takes the students from the ocean to the farms. They will experience tropical Islands, snorkelling fringing reefs and farming in the tropics and the local culture of the region.

We use small buses to suit class sizes with onboard microphones.

Itinerary

We will pickup the students at the whitsunday coast airport and make our way into Airlie Beach, We take a tour of the area buy a local expert. Hear about the Great Barrier Reef, the 74 islands, how captain cook named the Whitsundays. Learn how the early farmers used this beautiful area as a tin shed fishing village and how it grew to what it is today.   Refresh in the Fresh Water Lagoon and enjoy a welcome BBQ dinner.

Today we play on the water, tour the whitsunday islands to Whitehaven Beach, voted #1 beach in the world, which boasts brilliant white silica sand that is among the purest in the world.  A bush walk to a viewing platform that overlooks Hill Inlet, one of the most photographed place in Australia.  Snorkel the fringe reefs of the Whitsunday Islands with a reef expert who will tell you all about the beautiful corals and fish you will see. You may be lucky and snorkel with a turtle or see the majestic humpback whale during the migration season.

Bredl’s Wild Farm offers a unique, Australian, hands on experience like no other. . Travel on our Safari Truck down to our crocodile enclosures to view our large resident crocodiles being fed by the Bredl family.

Interactions include:

  • Cuddle a Koala;
  • Feed a Kangaroo;
  • Pat a Wombat;
  • Hold a baby Crocodile and Alligator;
  • Come face to face with an Emu;
  • Hand feed a Cassowary;
  • Wrangle a Reptile;
  • ​Experience up close encounters with the large resident Crocodiles from the comfort and safety of the safari truck and witness these crocodiles being hand fed by our experienced staff;

Today we take a tour through the local sugar cane and cattle farming properties in the area. See what life on the land is like in tropical Queensland.

We will will cross the Proserpine river, known to have the highest number of Salt water crocodiles in Queensland before we come across the Proserpine Sugar Mill, classed as the Number 1 sugar mill in the world.  Hear about the sugarcane farming industry, from the early days to where we are now. Among the leaders in the world wide industry

We will come across extensive mangrove systems, hear what an incredible part they play in the ecosystem and what life might be like with them. Take this time to also spot the wildlife that rely on this mazing environment.

We stop off at the cedar Creek waterfalls, which flows in the wet season and is a beautiful waterhole in the dry season. Learn about the oldest living culture in the country and how they came to be here and what incredible uses the land around us has.

Enjoy a BBQ lunch at the Proserpine dam.

Visit the Proserpine Museum and delve into the history of the region.

The museum houses an extensive collection of printed materials, photographs and artefacts relating to the history of the area, from its first inhabitants the Juru, Gia, Bira and Ngaro people, to the early European pioneers and the post war settlers

Then we will make our way to the Proserpine Airport or train station for your journey home
