Welcome to North Queensland. We will pick you up at a pre-arranged location at Queen Court and make our way to the beautiful Barron Falls. This walk is in the upper section of Barron Gorge National Park, accessed via Kuranda. Explore this elevated, wheelchair-accessible walkway, suspended high above the forest floor, as it winds through lush rainforest and open eucalypt forest canopy to Din Din Barron Falls lookouts.
We will explore the Karanda Markets where you can enjoy a nice lunch.
We will take an Army duck ride through the worlds oldest rainforest on an amphibious World War II Army Duck. During this 45 minute rainforest tour, your knowledgeable Duck Captain will identify and explain fascinating plants and wildlife as you pass by before splashing into the lake for a cruise with more wildlife to be seen.
This tour is all about waterfalls and rainforests, lets combine the two with a visit to Millaa Millaa falls. The most beautiful and iconic waterfall of the waterfall-laden Atherton Tablelands region. What the falls has going for it, is a lush rainforest setting fringed with broad ferns, colourful flowers and a plunge pool suitable for swimming.
Before the day end a visit to the 500-year-old Curtain Fig is a gigantic strangler tree. Circumnavigate the base of the tree and giant buttress roots on the easily accessible boardwalk.
Here we will visit the Herberton Historic Village. A remarkable collection of over 60 buildings which is reputedly the largest collection of Australiana in Queensland. Its buildings include an old school, a coach and livery stable, a miner’s hut, a slab hut dating from 1870, a bank, a presbytery, a telephone exchange, a pub (which is a composite of a number of buildings) and many more.
