We will pickup at the Whitsunday Coast airport or train station and make our way to Airlie Beach. We take a tour of the area buy a local expert. Hear about the Great Barrier Reef, the 74 islands, how captain cook named the Whitsundays. Learn how the early farmers used this beautiful area as a tin shed fishing village and how it grew to what it is today.   Refresh in the Fresh Water Lagoon and enjoy a welcome BBQ dinner.

Today we play on the water, tour the whitsunday islands to Whitehaven Beach, voted #1 beach in the world, which boasts brilliant white silica sand that is among the purest in the world.  A bush walk to a viewing platform that overlooks Hill Inlet, one of the most photographed place in Australia.  Snorkel the fringe reefs of the Whitsunday Islands with a reef expert who will tell you all about the beautiful corals and fish you will see.

You may be lucky and snorkel with a turtle or see the majestic humpback whale during the migration season.

Today we head north up the coast to Magnetic island stopping over on the way in Proserpine.

Here will will cross the Proserpine river, known to have the highest number of Salt water crocodiles in Queensland before we come across the Proserpine Sugar Mill, classed as the Number 1 sugar mill in the world.  Hear about the sugarcane farming industry, from the early days to where we are now. Among the leaders in the world wide industry

Learn about the oldest living culture in the world and how this region played an important role in their history.

Next on our way north we come across Bowen, the Winter Vegetable Capital of Australia and the central port for many large fishing trawlers that bring to market all our beautiful produce from the Great Barrier Reef. Your tour guide will share his/her knowledge of the area, the early inhabitants, the earlier settlers, their hardships and the farming life.

Take in the views at the 360° lookout where we can see Abbot Point, know to be the largest port in the southern hemisphere where thousands of ships a year head over seas full of coal from this region.

We stop at the Big Mango for a Mango Sorbet, see the famous locations where they filmed a lot of the movie “Australia” and have a swim (not in stinger season). Final stop before we drive to the Magnetic Island Ferry is a visit to the Catalina Sea Plane base and here we will learn there importent role in WW2

then drive to the Magnetic Island Ferry.

A tour of Magnetic Island taking in its many attractions, its bays and beaches.

This is the best place to see Koalas in the wild while on a beautiful bushwalk which ends in a WW2 historic site. This tour you will hear about the role that this area was used in WW2 and the history of the war in Northern Australia and New Guinea

Back to the mainland we go where we will engross ourselves in history at the museum of Tropical North Queensland. When its time we will make our way to the Townsville Airport or train station for your journey home.
