Itinerary
Pickup at Mackay airport and we drive up the beautiful Pioneer Valley to Pinnacle Pub for lunch, it boosts that it has the worlds famous pie.
Up the Great Dividing Range to Broken River Retreat, nestled in Australia’s largest Rain Forrest.
You will have some free time, late afternoon we go for a small walk, very friendly with concrete paths. We will have a tour with a national park ranger, beside the lodge is Broken River which is home to the platypus.
It is the best place in the world to view them. The ranger will tell you all about the rainforest animals and fauna. Back to the lodge for a welcome dinner.

After breakfast we go for a drive around stopping for a very friendly 15-minute walk in the rainforest, concrete paths, spectacular views over the Pioneer Valley.
We go to Eungella Dam, boil the billy, and have a picnic lunch, back to the lodge for some free time and our first game of bingo.
We have 2 games with a prize of $250 each. A pleasant evening in the lodge where we get to know one another having dinner.

We go down the Great Diving Range to the awarding winning Sugar Shack and have a guided tour learning all about the sugar cane industry.
It has a small distillery where you can taste test a boutique rum, we then do a photo stop at Hay Point, one of the worlds largest coal loading ports, it could have up to 40 ships at anchor.
Mackay we will have a look at its highlights and go to the Botanical Gardens to do a tour to discover some of the amazing plants that makes up a living collection and the ones that are at risk in the wild. Perhaps spot some of the native birds, bees and butterflies the gardens home too.
Lunch at the café, relax take in the view and local wildlife from the shady alfresco deck. We then head to the prettiest town in Australia Airlie Beach. A bit of free time before dinner.

A relaxing day around Airlie Beach, we start with the local markets which is on the beautiful foreshore. We drive through the Conway National Park to look at the stunning views of Shute Harbour, we will stop at the lookout boil the billy for morning tea.
We then go to the bowls club, have some lunch and play bingo. There will be 2 prizes of $250 to be won, we then have some free time before we go out to dinner.
That night we go to Airlie Beach’s best restaurant Paradiso, overlooking the Coral Sea. We will have a private function room, with tapas and a complementary cocktail.

A Hydeaway Bay tour which is a hidden gem of the Whitsundays, the prettiest stop in Australia.
We have lunch at a beachside restaurant which has a selection of everything specialising in seafood. The rest of the day is free, dinner at La Marina which over looks the Port of Airlie.
We will have a pizza and pasta night with a complementary drink on arrival.

You have 2 options.
A boat ride over to the world acclaimed Hamilton Island where you will do a tour around the island on a hop on hop off bus. Those that want to can have a drink at the swim up bar, have something to eat on main street.
You can be back on the mainland approx. 3pm, the other option is Hamilton Island and the worlds number 1 beach Whitehaven with its pure silica sand a much bigger day not getting back till 6pm you will have your dinner at your accommodation.

Having a look around Proserpine, it has the most modern Sugar Mill in the world, then going down to the Proserpine Landing which has the most densely populated river system in Australia for salt water crocodiles, maybe we might spot a crocodile and see its wildlife. Stopping there for morning tea, boiling a billy
We head to Whitsunday Gold Coffee Plantation to learn about the growing and making of coffee and have one of there fantastic coffee’s. They have a souvenir shop, take something back to the person that is looking after your dog.
Free time before a sunset cruise on Sundowner we will have finger food and drinks for dinner.

Time for a mango sorbet which we get at the Big Mango at Bowen, yet again another chance to buy a souvenir.
Lots of murals in the town centre where they made the movie “Australia”. We go to a very famous bakery for morning tea, Hugh Jackman made this famous when shooting the movie. He used to buy a pie every day, so it now sells the “Hugh Jackman Pie”.
Bowen is the winter vegetable capital of Australia which has the best mangos, something might be in season when we are there. We look at its 360-degree lookout which has stunning view of Bowen, its coal loading port, the islands and the Coral Sea.
Bowen has a fishing fleet, we will stop at the co-op to buy its best catch for lunch. Coral Trout is the world’s number 1 table fish, it sells in Chinese restaurants for $400 a kilo.
Coral Trout, salad, and king prawns will be on the menu. Bowen has the best beaches in North Queensland and will stop at one of these for lunch.
Back to Airlie Beach for some free time before dinner.

We drive out past the Coffee Plantation where we will stop again for morning tea, the wedding venue is a cattle property called “The Creek”.
You will see an outback show with horses, whip cracking working dogs and cattle, we will boil the billy and have lunch in the barn.
A free afternoon to relax or explore. Tonight at dinner we play Trivia Pursuit and everyone has to tell their best joke, the questions you get are from the commentary that you hear on the tour, everyone has a chance, you don’t have to be a university graduate, just a good listener.
There will be a $300 prize for the winner and a $200 prize for best joke.

We will go into town for a goodbye breakfast, have a final look around before we take you to the airport.
